SIBE (The Movie) Review: Is Bimbo Ademoye's Comedy Worth Watching?

Bimbo Ademoye's SIBE (The Movie) is the kind of Nollywood comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously—and that's actually part of its charm.

For viewers who already know the Sibe character from Bimbo Ademoye's earlier online series, the movie feels like a natural expansion of a character that was clearly made for comedy. Sibe is loud, unpredictable, dramatic and often completely unfiltered. Moving that personality into a full-length movie was always going to be a challenge, but the film manages to keep much of the chaotic energy that made the character popular.

The movie also benefits from a strong supporting cast, including Uche Montana, Uzor Arukwe and Deyemi Okanlawon, who give Bimbo enough room to bounce her comedy off other characters rather than carrying every scene alone.

What Works

The biggest strength of SIBE is undoubtedly Bimbo Ademoye's performance.

She understands the character extremely well. Her facial expressions, delivery and exaggerated reactions are responsible for many of the movie's funniest moments. Even when the jokes are predictable, her performance can still make them entertaining.

I also liked the fact that the movie doesn't try too hard to turn Sibe into something she's not. It embraces the character's craziness and uses it to create situations that are deliberately over-the-top.

Another positive is the chemistry between the cast. Uzor Arukwe and Deyemi Okanlawon fit comfortably into the comedic world of the movie, while Uche Montana brings another personality into the mix.

Where It Could Be Better

The biggest issue for me is the length.

At over two hours, SIBE sometimes feels like it could have benefited from a tighter edit. The comedy works best when the movie is moving quickly from one funny situation to another. There are moments where the story feels like it is stretching a joke or situation longer than necessary.

The film is also heavily dependent on the Sibe character. If you already enjoy Bimbo's comedic style, you'll probably have a great time. But if exaggerated comedy isn't your thing, some scenes may feel a little too much.

That's not necessarily a flaw—it simply means SIBE knows exactly what type of audience it is targeting.

Is SIBE Worth Watching?

Yes, especially if you enjoy Bimbo Ademoye's comedy.

The movie isn't trying to be a complicated Nollywood drama or an awards-season masterpiece. It's primarily there to entertain, and on that level, it succeeds.

What makes the project particularly interesting is how a character that started as an online comedy creation has now grown into a feature-length Nollywood production. The original Sibe series became popular through Bimbo Ademoye's YouTube content, with the series averaging hundreds of thousands of views across its episodes.

That transition from short-form online comedy to a full movie is probably one of the most interesting things about SIBE.

Final Verdict

SIBE (The Movie) is funny, energetic and carried by a committed performance from Bimbo Ademoye.

It isn't perfect, and I think a shorter runtime would have made the experience even better. But if you're looking for a relaxed Nollywood comedy with plenty of exaggerated characters, ridiculous situations and Bimbo Ademoye doing what she does best, this is definitely worth giving a chance.
